Hesperia, the northwest island continent, lies west of Angara and Gondowan and north of its spiritual neighbor, Atteka.
Hesperia is the northern island continent in the Great Western Sea.
Geography[]
Essentially the only prominent landmark on Hesperia is Shaman Village, and the dungeon-like area located within, Trial Road. Shaman Village is nestled in a dense mountain range and is therefore very remote. It is only accessible by travelling through the Shaman Village Cave, which is located to the north of the large central lake. The only other location the player can visit in Hesperia is the small Hesperia Settlement, located on the continent's west coast.
An interesting and unique aspect of this continent can be found when walking in the vast desert area in the northern region of the continent - battles there take place against a sandy, desert landscape, possibly indicating that it may once have been a candidate for a dungeon.

The Shaman Village.
History[]
Long before the main storyline of the Golden Sun games, Hesperia and Atteka were in a constant state of war. Though the war was not elaborated on very much, at the end of the war, a truce was declared in which the sacred treasure of Atteka, the Hover Jade, and the sacred treasure of Hesperia, the Shaman's Rod, were traded for a peace agreement. It wouldn't be until Felix's party appeared in Hesperia that the treasures returned to their rightful continents.
An often overlooked fact about Hesperia is that it was originally attached to Angara, as can be seen on the first game's in-game map. This is explained when Isaac's party returns to Vale after the Kalay bridge is repaired, where several NPCs talk about how Mt. Aleph's eruption "tore the continent in two".

Real World Inspiration[]
Its culture resembles Native American mysticism.
Hesperia is the Greek name for Italy, literally the "land of the evening," as it was the apparent location of the sun's setting to the ancient Greeks. Hesperia could have also been based on an actual place called Hesperia located in California. This real world Hesperia is called the high desert for its being located in a mountain range mutch like the shaman village.
