A Magical Cassock is a Robe-class piece of armor found throughout the Golden Sun series.
Basic Description by Game[]
The Magical Cassock increases the wearer's base Defense by 39 points, and allows the wearer to regenerate 2 PP per turn. It can be bought for 9000 coins and sold for 6750 coins.
In Golden Sun, the Magical Cassock can be bought as an artifact at the armor vendor in Lalivero, and can be equipped by Ivan and Mia.
In Golden Sun: The Lost Age, it is sold in Shaman Village, and can be equipped by Jenna and Sheba. In Golden Sun: Dark Dawn, it is sold in Tonfon, and can be equipped by Karis, Rief, Amiti, and Himi.
Analysis[]
In Golden Sun, it has the potential to be a good purchase if at least one of your caster Adepts is not equipped with something as strong as the Blessed Robe or the Ninja Garb, but in the case that Ivan and Mia are currently equipped with these when they first arrive at Lalivero, consider its purchase carefully. Its very low PP-regeneration rate is perhaps best stacked with that of an item with its own PP-regeneration rate like the Mythril Circlet so that the equipped Adept gets a more substantial PP-recovery boost. It would become outperformed by the robes Oracle's Robe and Feathered Robe by the end of the game.
In The Lost Age, when it becomes available once the Great Western Sea opens up, it has far less opportunity to be a good purchase, one of the specific reasons of which being that you would likely have found the Muni Robe in an earlier dungeon, and there are plenty of good clothes and robes coming up.
In Dark Dawn, there are fewer pieces of equipment with high PP regeneration rates, with only the Mysterious Robe and the Iris Robe, giving a substantial amount (They give 10 and 12 PP per turn respectively). However, both are singular Artifacts, with the Iris Robe only being available after the main storyline is completed. Thus the Magical Cassock may be considered for use on an Adept, though it is best to combine it with the Mythril Circlet, which gives 3 PP per turn, for an overall rate of 5 PP per turn. However, players may prefer to equip items with more substantial side effects. Should the player wish to have the PP regeneration, the player will likely want to replace the Magical Cassock with the Iris Robe once they can access Crossbone Isle.
