Rat monster line

Rat, Armored Rat and Plated Rat are species of monsters found in Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. These monsters, resembling small, back-plated rodents, are palette swaps of each other and have differing levels of power and defense. The members of this monster line are notable for their high Defense ratings compaired to most other enemies in the areas where they are fought.

Rat

A brown member with green plating. Rat has 49 HP, 52 Attack, 27 Defense, 15 Agility, and 1 Luck. Its resistances are very lopsided; while resistant to Jupiter Psynergy, it is increasing much weaker to Mercury and Venus, and finally Mars-based attacks.

Rat only has two attack options, a phsyical attack and the monster skill Fortify.

Felling a Rat yields 14 EXP, 17 coin, and sometimes, an Herb. In Golden Sun, they are located in Kolima Forest, Tret Tree and the upper center and eastern regions of Angara. Its the only member of the monster line to appear in The Lost Age, where it is fought in the world map area between Osenia Cliffs and Gondowan Cliffs. They have the highest defense out of all the minor enemies in those areas.

Armored Rat

A green member with pink plating. Armored Rat has 147 HP, 193 Attack, 79 Defense, 60 Agility, and 1 Luck. Its resistances are very lopsided; while resistant to Jupiter Psynergy, it is increasing much weaker to Mercury and Venus, and finally Mars-based attacks.

Armored Rat retains its predecessor's phsyical attack and Fortify, but also gains the monster skill Total Defense.

Felling a Armored Rat yields 77 EXP, 100 coin, and sometimes, an Herb. They are located in Altmiller Cave and the world map area between the Tolbi-bound Ship and Gondowan Passage. Here, their defense is only bested by the Clay Gargoyle.

Plated Rat

A purple member with yellow plating. Plated Rat has 203 HP, 262 Attack, 130 Defense, 61 Agility, and 2 Luck. Its resistances are very lopsided; while resistant to Jupiter Psynergy, it is increasing much weaker to Mercury and Venus, and finally Mars-based attacks.

Plated Rat retains its predecessor's phsyical attack and Total Defense, but loses the monster skill Fortify in favor of Counterstrike, which (contrary to the name) simply does enhanced damage.

Felling a Armored Rat yields 205 EXP, 135 coin, and sometimes, an Elixer. They are located in the Tunnel Ruins and the road to Babi Lighthouse. Thier high defense is superior to most of the minor monsters in both areas other than Ice Gargoyle and Grand Golem.
