Category issues[]
I forgot to bring this up yesterday. Just in case any of you haven't noticed, I've been making categories for individual equipment classes, like Long Swords, Helms, Bracelets, and so on. The problem now is that there are only three equipment classes that don't have their own categories: Rings, Shirts, and Boots. You know, the extra stuff. All the categories I made recently have been sub-categories of either Weapons or Armor, and I didn't want to make these categories until I knew where to put them. The Ring category should probably be put under Equipment, but I'm not sure whether to put Shirts and Boots with Rings or under Armor. Any ideas? - That really seems like it could go either way... Have you considered putting it in both those categories? I don't think it's a bad idea.
- The game itself, we should remember, doesn't care so much about how it categorizes equipment as it cares about the effects of any equipment in general. Any Long Sword is typically a piece of equipment that tends to increase its wearer's Attack rating by a high level, while any Clothing tends to increase its wearer's Defense Rating. As far as the game is concerned, the "Riot Gloves" piece of equipment is a weapon, as much a weapon as the basic Long Sword, because both the Riot Gloves and the Long Sword increase attack somewhat.
- Hmm, you know, maybe none of that was really all that relevant... :P Erik Jensen (Appreciate me here!) 18:10, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
- That's an...interesting way of looking at things. But I think you've forgotten one thing: the very fact that the game does categorize equipment. After all, you can't equip both the Sol Blade and the Gaia Blade to the same Adept (imagine how strong Isaac would be then O_o). The game puts most equipment into four main categories: weapon, head, shield, and chest. In fact, that's how our equipment page is sorted. Armwear, headgear, and bodywear all boost defense as their primary function, so for the sake of convenience we put under the same roof. What I'm asking is if we put boots and shirts in with them, since they also boost defense, or if we should put them under equipment in general, which would suit their miscelleneous status.
- But, like you said, all this probably isn't all that relevant. -_-
- Putting them under both categories...that actually doesn't sound like such a bad idea. And after all, we can always go back and change it later. The world's hungriest paperweight 03:56, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
